24 hours is roughly how long I have to pull the trigger on this Jeep before the next supplicant comes calling . (Yes, this really isn’t mine.)
I took it out for a spin this afternoon. It drives like a dream. It shifts like a dream (mine is very non-dreamy right now). A clean manual TJ for this price begs to be bought.

Regrettably, it’s only clean up top, a nd under the hood. The frame...is not so great.
It’s not holey yet, just rotting. I’m sure it can be rescued with some elbow grease (or, more accurately for me, someone else’s elbow grease).
I want it, I want it badly, but there’s no way I’d say no once they ran the numbers, so I told them I’d have to sleep on it before talking financing.
I want to go back.

I have no idea what you'd want two of pretty much the same car.

I guess look at the frame closely, if it can be saved then go for it. If it needs new rails then I’d do a nope.

It’s a Jeep thing. You wouldn’t understand.
(I never get to use that line.)
I tried to explain my reasoning in the earlier post. It’s not entirely rational. But it would be awesome.

Yeah, if it doesn’t sell tomorrow maybe I’ll take it to my guy who can do a professional evaluation.

I kinda do. You know the platform, you want the.same car with different setup. Same reason I'd buy another fiesta

It was sarcasm, I have two manual E9X BMWs.

I get it, it’s one reason why I got another E9X to complement my E90 M3.

Shows you how much attention I pay. And that it’s clearly not just a Jeep thing.
I have to say, the tight turning radius on the one I drove today makes it harder to pass on, but I’m not sure how I’d be able to use that to justify it to my friends and family.

From one j eeper to another, don't let emotions get in the way of walking from a rusty frame. Once they start, they are very hard to stop as they start on the inside. Before you know it you'll be installing safe-t caps, and I don't think I'd want to own those on anything other than a trail rig.

you have a BMW?

Good call. I really should spend the money instead on protecting mine.
And fixing the 2-3 major problems I’m fighting, sigh.

Rusty frame? Yeah, no. Negative Ghost Rider, pattern is full.

Well, at that age (in this region) they’re all rusty, but yeah, realistically this one was a bridge too far.

The 15yr old jeep struggle is real. I had a radiator crack, now my tranny cooler lines are leaking. Plus I have some funny knock in the driver’s front wheel that only happens when cold. It sounds like the brake pads clanking around or something. It also goes away when the brakes are applied, so I don’t think it’s wheel bearing or u- joint related.
